Xpl-53 "Charlotte" Xpl-81 "Kebbel"

“Charlotte” (Xpl-53) was first darted and fitted with a GPS collar on 6 May 2009 (see Xpl-53). Her collar failed a few weeks later and despite extensive search efforts she was not located for more than three years. On 29 Aug 2012 “Charlotte” and an adult male (Xpl-81 “Kebbel”) were found in the upper tributaries of the Mudorib River. Both lions were darted and fitted with satellite collars.

The current movements of Xpl-81 "Kebbel" (•) and the lioness Xpl-53 "Charlotte" (X) are presented below. The map and current locations of the lions will be updated every day. The red • and X indicate the positions of the lions at 07h00 on the date that appears below and the blue • and yellow Xs show the movements during the previous 5 days.
